I have just watched a short clip about Michelle Heaton (Liberty X star) who had been invited to unveil the latest Ford car at a ceremony launching it. The lighting was not that good and the vehicle itself was under a sheet as well as standing on one. She and the male host began to lift the sheet covering the car but the sheet on which the car was standing could not be readily seen. As the pair lifted the sheet from the bonnet Michelle’s high heels caught the ground sheet and she took a tumble. She wasn’t hurt physically but I guess her pride took a dive. I thought it all a bit insensitive that her demise was being made known to the public at large. It appears that nobody cares about broadcasting other people’s misfortunes. Perhaps Michelle should have worn more sensible shoes but may have tripped up regardless. There are more serious falls a person can make other than one to the floor, I’m sure you’ll agree.
I was thinking about falls and the one main one in particular that many would not even consider and that is the fall from grace, God’s grace. We have fallen by the wayside, so to speak, all starting with Adam and Eve if you believe. The thing is we are lost sheep, we think we know all the answers and we rely on our human talents to overcome our problems. Well if you believe that we have been around for a couple of million years and I may not agree with that, you would naturally assume that we were on top of things wouldn’t you? I mean a million years is a long time to get things right, isn’t it? The problem is we don’t learn by our mistakes, we repeat them time and time again. We invent laws by which to live and the fact that there are laws proves that we cannot be trusted to live decent and upright lives. Many of God’s laws are broken every day but many don’t believe in God so to them it doesn’t matter but even they would admit to the necessity of laws. In fact we are all sinners, we all have an agenda. This Christmas there will be the giving and receiving of presents, food and drink, merriment and laughter, good times for all and good will toward all men. Come on, get real, by the following day we’ll all be at each other’s throats again. There has to be a better way and there is. This Christmas think about your fall, think about making your life better, think about why people celebrate Christmas and if it’s for the wrong reasons, think why that is. There is a better way, I know, I knocked and the door was opened to me. Maybe if you knock it will opened for you too. Love
