I was awakened by a telephone call this morning at 9.30. I had been quite tired last night and welcomed the extra lie in bed. It was a call to do some work, just a small job and worth the journey of 8 miles. Before I left my bedroom another call came in which sounded a little more involved and I arranged to call after the first job. This was a bit farther afield and as it turned out was involved but worth going to do. When I left home it was dry and cold and remained so even when I got to the second job about 14 miles away. On the way home, via a different route, I noticed that snow had been falling there, not a great amount but everywhere got progressively white as I drove along. Eventually I had to make a left turn and make the 4 mile journey over open country towards home. This road was covered in snow and slush and the fields were all white. As I got into town it was just the same. My driveway was covered in half an inch of snow. It has been very unusual for us on the coast to have much in the way of snow over the last few years and any we have had has not stayed very long. The forecast for tomorrow is a more severe covering of the white stuff. Maybe we are in for a change. I hope not but time will tell. Much as I like snow on picture postcards, it is a pain to travel through it! It is at times like this that I wonder about global warming, especially as it is getting colder here….LOL. I have to drive tomorrow and I’m hoping the weather won’t be too bad.
