So you think you can tell….?

Posted by Shirley Anne on February 6, 2010

This is something I posted on my other blog (Minkyweasels Musings) but I wanted to post it here as a witness. I am a Christian and am not ashamed of this.

So you think you can tell…?

An old Pink Floyd title and it asks about knowing Heaven from Hell amongst other things. I want to talk about Heaven and Hell and ask just what do those things mean to you if anything at all? Perhaps you have no opinion or perhaps you have other ideas about where we came from or how we were created and whatever you think, we do have a past, we did come from somewhere. The question is, where? If you believe in the Darwinian theory of evolution then you must believe that all life began by chance and that we are freaks of the Universe, something that came about by a mistake of Nature. For me that isn’t enough. I have to believe in a creator. For many years I was an atheist and didn’t really consider a creator until I was 43 years of age. I began reading the Bible, not because I was looking for God but more out of curiosity. I have to tell you now that once I started reading I began to believe and I wanted to know more. If you think about it you can never know for certain what is the truth unless you seek it. I was keen to know more. I found that through reading the Bible I was drawn closer to the idea of a creator and after only a matter of months, about eight in fact, I became a convert, a ‘born again’ believer. Since those days and after many times reading the scriptures I am more and more convinced that I was created and did not come about by some accident. Once you know something is true you do not let go of it. It is like finding some precious gem and you want everyone to know about it. The problem with that is not everyone is interested or convinced. Too many are lost in their own imaginings, too introverted in their thinking, too stubborn in their hearts to think these things could really be the truth but it takes faith to believe. You must have faith and with that faith all becomes revealed, your eyes are opened and you see for the very first time. Yes there is a God, yes there is a Heaven to be gained and a Hell to shun. These are real places, spiritual places and they exist in the here and now, inside our lives and out of it. We are spirit beings inside a physical body. When our flesh dies we still live on in the spirit. We are all made of the same stuff and yet we are all different beings inside, billions of us, all different. If you think you can tell Heaven from Hell, if you think you know all the answers, if you don’t believe these things then ask yourself this question….What if you are wrong?

Moving along

Posted by Shirley Anne on February 6, 2010

If you read my post yesterday I talked about people crossing my path instead of waiting for me to pass. Today it happened again. Three times. On my journey out-of-town somebody was about to pull out of a side road when they realised I was too close. By the time they had stopped I had already swerved to avoid a possible collision. Motoring on after buying materials I was driving along a main road when somebody else pulled out of a side road to my right. The driver reached the centre of the road before they realised I was there. I had already reduced my speed as they decided to reverse back into the side road. On returning home later yet another driver pulled out from the right and began to crawl in front of me. I had to apply my brakes and came almost to a stop behind them. I had the right of way in all three incidences but it seems nobody else was acknowledging that fact. Other incidences involved driving behind timid drivers seemingly unable to drive at the allowed speed and causing tail-backs behind them.
Apart from my encounters with some of the idiots on the road my day has been good. Work has caught up with me and I have been busy today.
I noticed the weather is beginning to change for the better and although it isn’t very warm I can see Spring just around the corner. This time last year I had been on an extravagant shopping spree with my ex. and we bought many things for our holidays in the warmer months ahead. This year we’ve not planned a vacation, yet! Anyway life moves on……unless you are behind a dawdler!
