An old lady goes into her local photographers studio and approaches the girl at the desk. ‘I have heard that many things can be done with photographs these days. Is it true’? She asked. ‘Oh yes’, said the girl, ‘we can do all sorts of things these days’, she continued. ‘How may we help you’? The old lady replied, ‘Well I have this photo and I would like you to erase part of it’. She showed the girl the photograph and the girl asked what specific thing would the old lady like the studio to do. The picture was of the Queen attending some special event. The old lady said ‘Can you erase that policeman standing just there holding back the crowd’? ‘Certainly’, replied the girl, ‘But why’? The old lady smiled and said, ‘Well I am standing behind him’!

Yet another one

Today we are entertaining another couple wishing to view our house. This morning will see E and myself doing a spot of tidying and cleaning. I am not expecting an offer on the property. I have given up on that having been let down so many times. If we do receive an offer we will obviously give it some serious consideration. We cannot influence what people think because many will view with pre-conceived ideas. I will leave the house to speak for itself. Really, it is about potential. The house is large and will only be suitable for a large family or somebody who has plenty of cash to spend. We have had prospective developers look at the property but it seems all they want is to convert it into apartments. This can be done of course but the returns on investment would not be great so it discourages that group of people. We are prepared to make sacrifices so we shall have to just wait and see.

Bad attitude

I was talking to somebody who makes communication with them very difficult. I have known this person for many, many years and I have tried my best with them but I know they are so stuck in their ways that I may never really get through to them. The person has an extremely stubborn attitude, refuses to engage in quality debate and is often so aggressive that I have to leave their presence. Many a time I have had my head bitten off for no reason at all. I persevere and hope that one day they will see that their attitude is driving people away. I suppose you’ll be wondering who this person is. The more astute will have already read between the lines. It is my ex-partner whom I will only refer to as ‘E’. The reason I bother with her is because I love her. I have lived with her now for 36 years and you would think that I would have given up years ago given the way she treats me. I don’t want to say anything nasty about her but she really does have a bad attitude at times. She and I hold different views on many things in life but in many things we find common ground. They say one should never try to change a person and I think that is right to a point. I have never tried to change E but I have tried to encourage her to take hold of life and be happy. All that I have done for her has been done in love, my love for her. I pray for her constantly.
