Obviously those who are blind will not be able to read this, their disability alters everything that happens in their lives. Those who have their sight may not realise what it must be like to live without being able to see and especially how life-changing losing one’s sight can be. Even simple tasks become challenging and often help is needed in order to carry out some things. Dependency on others becomes a necessity. Imagine for a moment how you would feel if you suddenly lost your sight and how your circumstances would change. Everything you took for granted, your ability to do certain things, your independence, everything, would change. Now that describes to a point the effects of physical blindness but we can be blind in other ways too. Imagine living in a world and being ignorant of the possibility of living a better life. You would be unaware that things could be so much better for you, you would be blind to it unless someone told you.Come to think of it we are all blind to the things in life until we learn of them one way or another. We will never understand all things whilst we live, it is impossible. Some may claim to have great wisdom and understanding and know most things but they are really blind, they just don’t know it. For many people the truth of the matter escapes them even though it might be right under their noses! It could be that they ‘see’ it but choose not to acknowledge it. How many rest on their laurels thinking they have no need for anything other than their possessions? They are the spiritually blind. So we may not be physically blind but we can be spiritually blind.
Revelation 3:17 You say, “I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.” But you do not realise that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked.
Open your spiritual eyes and see that God is good…………’I once was lost but now am found was blind but now I see’.
