I have never really been one who goes with the flow so to speak, never one who does things just because everyone else seems to be doing it. I hate change just for the sake of it or especially change that results in a backward step that doesn’t benefit anyone. I am a rebel at heart to the things I feel don’t justify my interest. I am a self-confessed cynic too I suppose and will voice my opinion in regard to something I feel is stupid or is pushing me into a corner unless I submit. Over the last few years in particular I have grown to hate what goes on in the world, mostly because of my Christian faith but partly also in the everyday things directly affecting my life. I can see where it is all heading and I don’t like it. However there is little I can do about it so I have to endure and try to influence wherever and whenever I can. The greatest influence on my attitude to life on this planet is The Bible, a collection of 66 books by 40 different authors all inspired by God yet although most of them had no contact with the others or had read anything they had written, the writings are all connected to the same theme. About one-third of the writings are prophetic and some of those prophecies talk about the present day and the days to come. What I am trying to point out is the fact that many of the things we are now in the process of undertaking have been foretold. I see it all around me and am helpless to do anything about it. The world is like a large machine gathering speed and relentlessly heading to its destiny whether we like it or not. Those who are wise will understand.
I went for a walk into town on Saturday morning as I had a large amount of cash lying around the house which needed depositing in the bank, actually a building society account. My local branches have closed over the last few years and the excuse was to streamline the business but what they really meant was they were cutting back on expenses and staff so that more profit could be made. Gradually banking like taxation has been pushed into our laps and we do all the work ourselves. That has its merits and its shortcomings. Suddenly we could get cash out of a machine and didn’t have to visit a branch of the bank which was a good idea but then there came machines which could take our deposits too. I trust neither of them but am forced to use them as there are fewer staff to do it. Eventually there will be no alternative but that is only the beginning, there are plans afoot to do away with cash altogether and have only cards. It won’t end there. The next step will be an electronic chip embedded under the skin which will do away with any need with physical representation of our credit. We will then be slaves to the system. (Mark of the beast and all that). Enjoy the freedom whilst it lasts. So there I was at the bank with cash in hand refusing to use one of the machines and standing in wait for a teller to be free. I approached her desk and offered the cash for deposit only to be told that they don’t accept deposits now except through the machines! This time however she took the money but insisted I use the machine in future. I will have no alternative. Just a simple example of the way things are proving to be heading in the direction prophesied over a couple of thousand years by the prophets of The Bible.
