69th Generation…….etc

The following end passages are taken from the online book I mentioned in a post labelled ‘Me reading?’ two days ago. The book can be downloaded free of charge for anyone interested…..and I sincerely hope many will take up the offer. I make no excuses for that because I know myself how important it is for people to understand the times and having read the book I thoroughly agree with the author. Steven Medley is a man whose life has changed dramatically since……well I’ll let him tell you in his own words written at the end of that book….

If you are among those who have followed along closely in
this study, then I believe you have been blessed, and privileged
to behold, and to understand the time-line of God. You have
been given an extraordinary gift and it has not come to you
accidentally. You have come to the knowledge of I Chron.12:32
“And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had
understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought
to do…”
Notice that the understanding was given to them for the
benefit of all of Israel. It was God’s instrumental method for
guiding and directing His people. At the same time it served to
give an advanced notice and warning so that the people could
prepare for what would lie ahead.
And unless we forget, this also is the ministry of the Holy
Spirit. Jesus Himself spoke these words in John 16:13 “…when
He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all
truth; for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatever He
shall hear, that shall He speak, and He will show you things
to come.”
If you have been awakened through this study it is only
because the Spirit of God has revealed it to you. Neither you
nor I have the ability within ourselves to see these things, let
alone the ability to understand them, or even to believe them
for that matter, this is the work of the Spirit of truth.
And if you’re wondering “why me?” Jesus Himself explains
it best in John 14:29 “And now I have told you before it come
to pass, that, when it is come to pass, you might believe.”
This is a call to faith my dear friends, it cannot be mistaken
for anything else.
I can look back at my own life and see clearly the various
stages of faith and relationship that God has brought me
through, and continues to do so. Early on I spent decades as
a devout follower of drugs, alcohol, sex, violence and rage,
cursing, lying, and stealing. I was loud, and arrogant, and cruel,
unthankful, selfish, and unloving. There was no sin that I am
aware of that I did not readily engage in, and I cared little about
religion, let alone a person called God. This was the horror
that my life had become over the many years of committed
practice of every type of evil. I had become a street animal,
sleeping anywhere, eating anything, and doing everything,
while barely resembling a man. My mind was a sewer, a pit of
disgust and torture, and there was no way out for me.
I was continually haunted in my alone time by my many
failures and inadequacies, and the many people that I had
hurt. I had turned my back on a dying father, I had totally
abandoned an innocent young daughter, I had scammed and
abused every relationship I had ever known, and I had injured
many physically as well as those I had scarred emotionally.
I had never owned anything, never held on to any job, never
married, never even had a driver’s license; I was a throw away,
and the worst part of it, was that I knew it. Year after year
was passing, decades rolled painfully by, and as no surprise
to me I was actually growing worse. Imprisonments and
incarcerations, attempted murders, and those that attempted
to murder me. Drug overdoses, some intentional, others were
not, house fires, car crashes, gun shots nearly missing, home
invasions and armed robberies, you name it, this was my life.
And one night I laid broken and shattered on a cold kitchen
floor in the dark, crying shamelessly, and I said “God, I have
heard about the people that you have changed their lives. If you
can do this for them, why can’t you do this for me? You know
that I cannot change myself, if you don’t change me I will die.”
That was it. No great theological prayer, no one there to hold
my hand and lead me through the dos and don’ts of petitioning
God properly. Just a crushed and hopeless heart giving up,
tired and beaten down, crying out on a naked kitchen floor in
the dark. I didn’t even know if He had heard me. There was no
lightning or thunderbolts, no visions, no appearance of angels,
no heavenly voice, no anything. I remember eventually getting
up and wiping the tears from my face and moving on to
whatever the next thing was. But I tell you this, from that
next day and forward I did feel something, something new
and strange, but unmistakably real. For the first time in my
life I could feel within me an opposing presence to the evil
that was my life. I didn’t know what this thing was, but it
was actively resisting me on every wicked front that I use to
perform so freely before. There was a wrestling match going
on so violently within me, it was impossible not to feel, or
notice it. I knew nothing about a Holy Spirit, or the Word of
God, but I now know this much, that night God did hear me,
and I was saved by His mercy, and the road to change had
begun for me.
I would like to say that from that moment on my life was
completely changed, externally I mean, but that did not happen
for me. It would be over many years still that this progression
would take place, even at times as it would seem to be at a snail’s pace. But for me, none of that matters now, as I have come
through it to be the man that I am now, as I sit at this keyboard.
Not perfect by any stretch of the imagination I can assure you,
but unquestionably and undeniably forever changed.
For several years now I have been drug and alcohol free,
no longer a slave to either. Additionally I have been sexually
abstinent now since 2009 since I am still remaining unmarried.
At the same time, I no longer fight, steal, lie, or curse, among
many other things that were so common to me, but these are
but the beginning of the change that God has done in me.
The greater changes have occurred, and still occur within the
hidden recesses of my heart and mind. Today I love God, and
I am an addict to His Word. The knowledge of Him has stolen
me away from this world, and it is the sweetest and most
pleasant thing that I could have ever imagined. Consequently,
I feel a deep abiding love and concern for others, and it is for
this reason that I have written this book for you.
My heart bleeds for you to know Him, my soul pleads for
you also to cry out to him, as I once did, and still do. I tell you
as truthfully as I know how, He is loving, and merciful, and
forgiving, and patient, and He is anxiously waiting for you. He
will hear you, and He will answer mightily all the pain that is
in your heart. You only have to ask. Yes time is short, so think
of it this way, every second that you do not call upon Him is
another second that you have to go without Him, and equally
as important, He without you.
Perhaps you may already be saved, but over time and
circumstances you have fallen victim to the many landslides
of life, seemingly separating you ever farther from your Father.
To you I would say this: He has not been moved away from
you, neither has His opinion changed, or His heartfelt desire
concerning you. Past guilt is behaving as your enemy, give
that also to Him. Let us not ever forget that Jesus died to bear
your shame and your guilt, in addition to your sin. Run back
to your Father just as the “prodigal son” was so wise to do.
He is forever looking over the barren landscapes of our lives
hoping only to see us in the distance as we approach. With
arms spread as wide as the beams that fastened wide the nail
pierced hands of Christ, He welcomes you to come home to
His certain embrace. I beg you not to walk, run my beloved,
run hard and fast to your God and Father, and King. Run now!
And lastly, for those of you who have and do know Him
well, all blessings and mercy, and peace and grace be to you.
To you I say, reach farther, go deeper, seek more, grow, stretch,
change, learn, and mature. Never become complacent, nor
comfortable within this world. Yearn, thirst, and hunger, for
His presence, to hear His voice, and to serve.
Ask yourself earnestly, what does this message mean for
you? What is the appropriate response given all that we have
learned? Where do you go from here? Do not do as the servant
that hid his lord’s “talent” in the ground as he awaited his
lord’s arrival, but rather be as the faithful servants that put
their “talents” to use and did produce an “interest” to present
to their lord at his return.
Take the message and make it your own. Study it, meditate
on it, speak it and teach to others. Become that “watchman”
that sits on the wall alerting the others to the seriousness of
the times in which we live. Be bold and courageous, stand up
and work for the good. Be fearless in your faith, and open wide
your mouth and testify “in season and out of season”. Be the
“salt” and the “light” that you were created to be. The God
of all creation has chosen you to live in this, the most crucial
time in all of human history. You are stronger than you know
you can be. Launch out in faith, and trust God to lead you and
direct you in all of your paths. Jesus is coming, and God has
preordained that you should be His welcoming committee.
Blow the trumpet and sound the alarm, the King is coming!
So there it is, the cold hard facts staring you in the face.
The future doesn’t hold a new and better career for you simply
because God desires to bless you. For that matter, you know
that mystical debt cancellation you’ve been waiting on from
God, or that new home, or that new husband or wife that God
has been planning to get to you, none of this is as high on His
priority list as it is on yours.
The truth is difficult times are ahead of us all. And until
we face that, we are as far away from being prepared for it
as we could possibly be. We are not here for God to bless us,
were actually here to be a blessing. We’re not here to take but
to give. We were never meant to serve self, not while there’s a
great King to serve.

About the author

Steven Medley was born in 1961 in the inner city of Chicago.
Born to a middle-aged father and a young but alcoholic mother,
it would be less than a year before his maternal mother would
abandon them both. The next nine years would be spent being
shipped around from various foster homes, and from one
school to the next. At age 10 he would finally come home to
stay with his quickly aging father. These would be the happiest
years of his life.
At seventeen Steven would enlist in the U.S. Marines and
four short years later he would receive an honorable discharge.
Upon his return home his father would die of lung cancer only
a short single year later. This would begin the darkest time
of Stevens life. Alcoholism, drug addiction, and a wide array
of criminal activities would eventually land him in the state
penitentiary where he would serve a total of forty-two months
behind bars. It would be there behind those same bars that he
would give his life to Jesus in 1991.
This would begin years of cultivating a personal and
intimate relationship with his newly discovered Savior. It
would be during this period of his life that he would uncover
the ever-present gift of prophecy lying previously dormant and
undetected within him.
Since then Steven Medley is a dedicated student and
researcher of the Word of God, with more than over 40,000
hours of collective study in the field of biblical prophecy.
Medley was born in Chicago Illinois, and currently resides
there with his newly gained wife and teenage daughter. He is
also the father of another daughter, and grandfather to three
young grandchildren.

Me reading?

Throughout my life I have never been one who took much interest in reading unless it was something factual or was supposed to be. Remember we have to read untruths too before we discern those things which are true. Knowledge is a fine thing but truth has to be supported by evidence. There are many things purporting to be true but they lack supporting evidence. We may read something which is the truth yet we don’t recognise it as such. We even reject the truth when the evidence is plainly there to see! Preconceived ideas and beliefs hold back the truth from us. I never read fiction, it has to be real for me. My earliest interests centred around astronomy. Beginning with the solar system and extending out to the stars and galaxies my interests grew so much I could digest huge amounts of information and still hunger for more. The more I discovered the more deep my interest. You might guess therefore that I possess many books about astronomy though these days I seldom read any of them. With the advent of The Internet there is little point as any information is out there to be had at the touch of a keyboard button. I still take an interest in the subject and probably always will. During my search for God in the years 1987 and 1988 my focus had been in reconciling the vastness of ‘space’ with the God who made it and it was somewhat of a stumbling block to my becoming a Christian believer. There was a yearning in my heart to know the truth and in my simplicity I asked God to reveal Himself to me. At this point I could diversify and write about my conversion but that isn’t the subject of this post. Save to say, I was converted and as I grew in my understanding things began to make sense. My Bible studies drew as much if not more interest as did my study of astronomy and so all my reading was in that direction. One can only learn facts by what is read, spoken or seen. There are many folk who think they know it all though they neither read, listen or look. They deceive themselves and the truth evades them. Since becoming a Christian in 1989 I have done much in the way of studying my faith and still continue to this day. As with any study we have to discern what is truth and what isn’t. For the Christian there is an assistant, a helper to guide us to the truth….The Holy Spirit. It is He who reveals the truth of the matter in our hearts as we study, for He reveals His own truth, God’s truth. After all The Bible is the inspired Word of God, The Holy Spirit inspired the writers to write what they did. Without a knowledge of anything anyone else wrote! It isn’t an instinctive awareness, for that is something we all have both believer and unbeliever alike. So I read a lot about my faith so that my understanding will grow. At the moment I am reading a book (online) about ‘The End Times‘ or more accurately the years preceding Christ’s return as prophesied in Scripture. The web site is  https://in-gods-service.com/   and specifically the article named ’69th-generation a biblical commentary on Daniel 9 (Book of) and the generation of Christ’s return.’ There is a link where the book may be downloaded free of charge for anyone wishing to read it. Having read the Bible around thirty times through and many isolated passages many times it never ceases to amaze me when new things are revealed to me from its pages. The particular article mentioned above draws out some very interesting facts otherwise passed over when being read as it links these facts together. The information is there for all those who seek it but remains hidden from those who don’t.  Even though the information is in plain view, God, The Holy Spirit, has presented it in such a way as not to be obvious to the casual reader. The book is well worth reading for any Christian who is serious about their faith and who wishes to understand the times. It is all there in The Bible……

Being a Christian

Ephesians 1:4

Paul says that God “chose us in him” to emphasize that salvation depends totally on God. We are not saved because we deserve it, but because God is gracious and freely gives salvation. We did not influence God’s decision to save us; he saved us according to his plan. Thus there is no way to take credit for our salvation or to allow room for pride. The mystery of salvation originated in the timeless mind of God long before we existed. It is hard to understand how God could accept us. But because of Christ, we are holy and blameless in his sight. God chose us, and when we belong to him through Jesus Christ, God looks at us as if we had never sinned. All we can do is express our thanks for his wonderful love.

Who else can say that they are loved by God for His Spirit is in them? Our relationship with God is a two-way street, any and every relationship is. God does love you dear reader even if you do not love Him. Having a relationship with your Creator is a truly wonderful thing, better than any other relationship you may have in you life. You may not think you are worthy to have such a relationship or even think it possible but you would be wrong in thinking that. God’s arms are open wide to receive all who would call upon Him and He has made it possible, not you or by anything you do. To have a relationship with God is only possible because of what Jesus has done for you. He took upon Himself the sins of the world, even your sins, so that if you believe in Him and the One who sent Him you will be saved for all eternity and the relationship with God will have begun. Like any relationship it gets better the deeper it gets.

Hang on a minute

Again we as a nation were subjected to acts of terrorism by religious fanatics as now eight people have died through their actions with many more having been wounded. The attackers, three of them, were shot and killed by the security services. Their motive? To kill as many unbelievers as they could or simply a retaliatory act as a punishment for the nation having been involved in the fight against religion-based terrorism in foreign parts? It doesn’t matter but what does matter is the fact that innocent people are killed or maimed in the process. What bothers me more is that I believe the atrocities are carried out in the name of a false god. Now hang on a minute, isn’t Allah God? He certainly is not, there is only one true God and He is The Creator, the ‘I Am’, who reveals Himself through His creation and through His Son Jesus Christ, for it is through Jesus that all things that have been made (created) have their being. Now hang on a minute all you believers in Allah who maintain that there was something extra that God did after Jesus’ sacrifice for mankind…………Jesus died that all might be saved and when He took His last breath as a human being He said it Himself…’It is finished’. All that could be done had been done. God (the Godhead, Father, Son and Holy Spirit) had planned it all and there was now nothing more that could be done. Why would God change His mind?

Mohammed (right) and the Angel Gabriel (left) ...
Mohammed (right) and the Angel Gabriel (left) in a building with three domes. Provenance unknown. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Why would the angel Gabriel be sent to give a message to Mohammed to tell him that ‘hang on a minute, God was only kidding when He suffered on The Cross (through Jesus Christ) for all mankind and now you are the true messenger’? The fact is He didn’t. Mohammed is called a prophet by his followers yet he didn’t prophesy anything. He gleaned information from existing texts of both the Old and New Testaments and concocted a ‘holy’ book called the Q’ran. A book filled with good sayings but also filled with untruths. Mohammed himself had lead a rather dubious lifestyle before he ‘got’ religion. He was in fact a military man a  soldier who had been ruthless in killing in his quest for followers and now he was preaching a false religion in the name of his false god Allah. Nothing much changes does it? I am sorry for my Muslim brothers and sisters who have been led up the wrong path, especially those who think that by killing others it will get them into their Paradise. It won’t. If it did then Allah is proven a god of hatred and Christ died for nothing.

Praise be to God for Jesus Christ who is the only way anyone can get to Paradise (Heaven). For there is no other name under Heaven by which we must be saved.{Acts 4:12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.’ }. If you haven’t got Jesus therefore you haven’t got anything!

Staying the course

Love in Thoughts
Love in Thoughts (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

My thoughts are fixed, my mind is set, I walk along the path with you.
My eyes are open, yet I cannot see, I feel your presence
Standing there right next to me.
I call your name, no answer comes, well nothing I can hear
I wait impatiently for you to whisper something sweet into my ear.
Why Lord do you not speak? Why Lord do you not say to me you care?
What can I do when all my thoughts are fixed on you?
I should know better, yes I know I should
For you don’t answer me in ways I thought you would.
But you are always there……….

Shirley Anne 23 Feb 2017

Sometimes I get the feeling or rather forget my Lord is with me throughout the days. When everything seems to be going wrong, when nothing seems to be going right, I forget Lord that you are standing by my side throughout it all. You see my weaknesses, my strengths, my heart’s wishes and the way I deal with them. You notice everything and so I have to be careful in my ways that I don’t offend you. Many times I fail Lord, you know it. You know all my faults and indiscretions yet still you love me and are ready to forgive. What a wonderful God you are. You love me so much that you gave your only begotten Son who paid the penalty for all my sins, my wrongdoing, the penalty I should be paying. You set me free and all you want is for me to love you back. I try my best Lord but know I fall short. By your mercy, grace and love I am saved. Thank you Lord. I stay the course because of our mutual love. My heart is fixed upon you……

Borrowed time

Borrowed Time (John Lennon song)
Borrowed Time (John Lennon song) (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

I suppose most of us give little thought about our mortality. It’s not something people like to dwell upon when they are enjoying their lives. For many people the act of dying simply means they cease to exist, they have no hope of a life beyond the grave because they don’t believe in such things. It says in Scripture these things…

Ecclesiastes 3:11
He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.

God has set eternity in our hearts so for those who don’t believe in God does that mean they never think about eternity? I think not. I think the unbelieving heart is simply not ready to accept it. The fact is eternity does exist. How could it not? Whether we believe in it is irrelevant. We cannot say that something doesn’t exist because we don’t believe it, that is an absurd assumption. It is the same with God, not believing in Him doesn’t mean He doesn’t exist. Because we don’t understand doesn’t mean it isn’t true. In the latter half of the verse shown it reminds us that NO one can fathom what God has done. It is all above our understanding, yet if we believe in God, if we believe in Jesus Christ, God actually gives us the understanding through His Spirit! It all becomes clear and in fact not believing becomes an abhorrent thought. What God reveals in our hearts is the truth and we have hope if we trust in Him. What’s more He give us that eternal life once we believe in Him and in the One He sent, The Lord Jesus, it becomes the reality we didn’t previously understand.

One of the most amazing things is He gives us the choice to believe or not. From someone who spent 43 years of her life as an unbeliever but became a believer, who did not understand but now does, believe me when I say that knowing God and having that eternal hope is worth reaching out for. Don’t put off seeking God for your days may be numbered, in fact they are numbered. Waiting for another time may prove too late, you are living on borrowed time…………….

God is calling you to Salvation through His Son Jesus……….reach out and believe.

Here is a true story…..
Sharing Your Story (Acts 4:1–22)
Peter and John are “unschooled, ordinary men.” Both are fishermen—a lower-class vocation. Some of the Pharisees who arrest the two for healing a crippled beggar are particularly puzzled by the men’s ability to speak articulately and effect healing. The only possible explanation is that these men have spent time with Jesus.
Jesus’ forgiveness and grace together comprised the only reason Peter and John had a chance to succeed in life. The same holds true for Ken Freeman, who emerged from homelessness to become a lifelong evangelist.
His mother was an alcoholic, and his father didn’t care enough to stick around. In a seemingly unending succession, Ken called nine different men his stepfather, but not one of them proved to be a worthy father figure. His home life brought only continuing abuse and neglect. As a young teen, Ken decided that he was better off on the streets than living the continuing nightmare at home.
When he was 16, Ken heard about a local church revival. He didn’t care about the revival as such, but he was lured by the free pizza being offered. Although he attended with the goal of filling his belly, God had other plans.
That night Ken met Jesus for the first time, and the encounter transformed him completely. He developed a growing passion for teenagers and their families, and at age 19, he began traveling and speaking at youth camps and church revivals across the country. Ken did not attend seminary to learn how to tell people about Jesus. He simply told his story. And people listened.
More than 200,000 people have come to know Jesus through Ken’s ministry. Despite having grown up in a broken home, he and his wife have been married for almost 40 years. Ken credits Jesus for the miraculous changes and incredible ministry that have blessed his life.

How do you think Ken Freeman can maintain such a positive outlook on life despite his difficult childhood?

You are unique

Do you know that in this world there is no-one else the same as yourself? People may be similar and in so many ways, looks, attitudes, talents and ability but each one no matter who they are is a unique creation. Yes, we are all unique and yes, we were all created. We are the offspring of our parents as far as our flesh is concerned but our spirit is from the Creator of all things. When we die in the flesh that spirit lives on, it returns to God. We face judgement, every one of us, yes, even Christian believers will face judgement. Believers in Christ, in God, already have salvation but they will be judged on both the good and bad things they have done. Unbelievers will be judged too whether they believe it or not but they won’t have an intercessor they won’t have Jesus pleading their case for although he died for everyone’s sins redemption and salvation only come through accepting his gift of life (everlasting). Yes, we are all unique and we all have a choice, to believe in God and Jesus Christ or not to believe. God gave us all a free choice but warns us of the consequences of turning our backs to Him.

MADE IN GOD’S IMAGE (Genesis 1:26–27)
Human beings are uniquely created in the image of God. When the rest of creation was being birthed, it was “good.” God created the birds, fish, plants and stars to display his splendour and oh, how amazing they are. God said these creations were good. However, when it came to humans, the tone changed. He said that the creation of humans was “very good.” Human beings are an extra-special creation for at least three reasons. First, it is clear that humans have an identity that is rooted in God. When God said, “Let us make mankind in our image,” he reiterated the presence of Jesus and the Holy Spirit in the act of creation . . . .Humans are special because Jesus, as a part of the Trinity, created them in his image. Second, humans are special because they were created for a unique purpose. No two humans are the same. Other aspects of creation serve general functions, but only humans have a unique, individual purpose. Third, humans are designed to have a one-on-one relationship with God through Jesus, powered by the Holy Spirit. As a right of being created in the image of their Creator, humans can relate directly to him. It is through Jesus that this relationship is made possible. He came and tore down the dividing wall of hostility that separated his special creation from God (Ro 8:34–39).
Jesus, thank you for tearing down that dividing wall between my Creator and me. Show me my purpose in this life and help me to accomplish it, starting today. Amen.

Friday and the long weekend

‘So this is Christmas‘ as John Lennon sang in the well-known song. When I was young it wasn’t so much the day itself but always the approaching days which held the excitement, in fact the day itself wasn’t as exciting as I remember and sometimes it turned out a little disappointing. I find that happens a lot in life, we expect something to be exciting and we find we are somewhat disillusioned when the time comes. Sometimes we expect too much and when we do we get let down. Not always though, no, there are things which satisfy in life but I think you’ll agree, they don’t last and soon we are looking for another thrill, another exciting event. This pretty much sums up Christmas for many people but it doesn’t have to be that way, there is more to Christmas or rather the message it contains that will never disillusion if taken to the heart. Who cares? Many simply want to enjoy the time without the ‘religious’ theme but without the religious message the whole event becomes meaningless, just another event in the calendar we look forward to for enjoyment. Well Christmas is a time to rejoice and be happy, a time for people to get together in love and friendship though for some that isn’t their lot. Tell people that God sent His only begotten Son, conceived of the Holy Spirit by a virgin to be an atoning sacrifice for those who have turned away from Him and they will laugh, they will scoff, they will not believe, but that is the message that Christmas brings. It is the gift of God, a free gift and it doesn’t arrive on a sleigh pulled by reindeer and driven by a guy in a red outfit! The truth of the matter is we ALL need salvation for we ALL fall short of the glory of God. God is waiting for those who will turn to Him in repentance, who will accept His free gift of life that only comes through Jesus Christ, the babe in the manger lost in the secular version of what should be a Christmas centred around him and the reason he came.

The days grow long

English: Holy Spirit church: Cellingpainting: ...
Holy Spirit church: Cellingpainting: Birth of Christ Locality: Heiligengeistplatz Community:Klagenfurt  (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Around this time of year in the Northern Hemisphere of our Earth the days begin to lengthen, that is the hours of daylight. At the same time of course the nighttime hours get shorter. The day is almost upon us, the celebration of the birth of our Saviour and many will be marking the day in their usual way. Before I became a Christian believer I had another faith, I was an atheist, I didn’t believe in God or Jesus Christ and I’d never heard of the Holy Spirit. I followed, like many others, in the tradition of men, celebrating Christmas as non-believers do. People around me would say, Christmas is about family and it is a time for children. Children were told, as they still are, that Santa Clause would be bringing them toys if they were good. Why are children told such lies? There is no harm in make-believe I hear you say but it is just as easy to tell the truth is it not? Children end up growing as non-believers and the lies are perpetuated. If you are going to celebrate someone’s birth surely they will be at the centre of it won’t they? No-one goes to a birthday party that has nobody there whose birthday it is! There cannot be a party without its host. There cannot be a party without an invitation to join-in either, that would be stupid, yet it happens every year at Christmas. If Christ is not in Christmas there is no birthday party to celebrate. Time is short and Christmas will be upon us in a day or two. Time is short for us all and one day we each of us will pass away. For those who believe there is a party in Heaven that will last for eternity and Jesus will be there to greet them, he is their host and will welcome them in because he knows them. Do you know Jesus? Is he the host at your party? Without him there is no real celebration. The invitation is there…..are you going to accept it?

I no longer celebrate Christmas as I once did, the way the world does but I celebrate in my heart each and every day for what Jesus did for me and praise him.

Happy soul

I was told once, well more than once if I am to be honest that I am a happy soul. I was never sure what was really meant by that compliment but I guessed it was because of my presentation and attitude. I smile a lot, I am a bit of a jester, always finding a joke in whatever people tell me, except when doing that wouldn’t be right. I find that this way that I have is due to where I was born and lived, Liverpool. People from Liverpool do have a strong sense of humour according to what others tell me. I am inclined to agree. I feel sorry for those who live out their lives without having a sense of humour or wear such a badge with pride. Also if we cannot laugh at ourselves we lack something. People who can laugh at themselves, don’t take themselves too seriously and are accordingly more easy to get on with, unless you don’t have a sense of humour. What makes us who we are? Is it simply the way the ‘chemicals’ in our brain operate? I think not. We are not simply beings of the flesh, we have spirit but what is spirit? People talk about the spiritual realm but more often than not they are referring to the occult, black magic, mysticism, ghost and such things. Halloween seems to be centred around such beliefs. The spirit of a person is who they are and will be when they depart from their fleshy bodies because the spirit of a person is not reliant on their flesh. Spirit precedes life and remains when life has died. If you believe in the supernatural or in the occult you must believe in the spirit world. If you believe in God the same principle applies, in fact God is spirit. So if your spirit is not a product of your flesh then where did it come from? It came from the One who made it….God……..and it will be to Him where it will return and be judged. If God cast out some of the angels from Heaven He is capable of doing the same with our spirit too. How can that be avoided? God in His infinite wisdom, love and compassion made it possible through Jesus Christ because we are helpless and cannot be safe (saved) without him. Think about your spirit and where it will be when you die then place your hope and trust in the ONLY one who can save you, Jesus.

The list of love

A list of love

E, Derek, Marie, Carol, Allan, Jennifer, John, David, Tracy, Alan, Lyn, Lucy, John, Chrissie, Tina, Emily, Caroline, Sara, Claire, Jane, Amanda, Jillian, Lotte, Pam, Craig, Chris, Terry, Denise, Paul, George, Pam, Jill, Toby, Deborah, Pam, Liz, Sue, Jane

These people, as far as I am aware that is, and many others, either do not believe in God and Jesus Christ or have not called upon Jesus to be their Saviour. I pray for them all each and every day that God will open their hearts to His Word and that they may repent and turn to Him through His Son our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Others I know who have made that commitment I also pray for, my brothers and sisters in Christ, that they will be filled with wisdom and be given a deeper understanding to grow in their faith. Some are members of my own family, my sons and friends. These too are in my list of love.

Why do I say a list of love? What do I gain by praying for them? The answer is that I love them all and want those who need salvation to be saved and those who are saved to draw closer to God. I pray for people for it is incumbent upon me to do so but also because I want to. Once I didn’t pray for anyone but since God’s Holy Spirit came into my heart I cannot resist. The pleasure I get is in the knowledge that I am doing my Father’s will, not because I am under pressure but because I am persuaded out of love. For so many years I lived in spiritual darkness without the love of God in my heart and then one day Jesus came into my life and I was changed forever (read My Faith page above). When I found this treasure immediately I wanted to tell everyone what they were missing. It often fell on deaf ears and it still does for many resist the Good News with fervour, actually as I did before I believed. It is hard sometimes when trying to explain to people that there is a hell to shun and a heaven to gain. Hell is a real place reserved for those who reject salvation through Jesus Christ. It is our sins which separate us from a loving God but it is only through Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, that we can be saved. If we ask Jesus to be our Saviour he will take the burden of our sins upon himself and they will be wiped away forever. When God looks upon us He will not see sin, He will see His Son in us. Why would anyone not take hold of such a love as this, one that ensures everlasting life in Heaven?

John 3:16

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

So I pray for those I love

The right decision

‘I would rather believe in God and die finding out that I was right rather than die not believing and discover I was wrong’. I don’t need to take out insurance in the hope that God exists, I know it in my heart for that is where He resides by His Spirit. I have that blessed assurance, a guarantee written in my heart and underwritten by my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. He is the one who makes it possible to be at one with God when we are separated from Him because of our sins. If we don’t have a Saviour we remain unsaved and destined for destruction because we cannot save ourselves. We cannot save ourselves yet many think that salvation is gained by their good deeds. Nothing could be further from the truth for it says in Scripture

Ephesians 2:8-9 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast

If you wish to trust in another that is entirely up to you but there is only one way to be saved and that is through Jesus Christ who died and took upon himself our sins, yours and mine. If we believe in our hearts that Jesus died for us and repent of our sins we will be saved. Jesus is our gift from God, he is the one who makes us at one with God, he atones for us in other words. Take that step of faith and have that assurance from God who loves you.

Wake up!

Now that Christmas is over and things in your life get back to normal once again think what it was all about. What did you really benefit from the holiday? Yes, you will say that you were able to spend time with family and friends and have a good time together but why wait until Christmas each year to do that? Surely you love your family and they you that you can spend time with them more often? The truth is for many that they never see their family other than at this time of year so for them it is special. People say Christmas is for children and it is a time for celebrations and good-will to all men (mankind), so why when the holiday is over does that good-will disappear? People are blind to the message of hope and reconciliation that Christ offers to those who will place that hope in him. The world is under the control of an evil force which seeks only to destroy God‘s creation, and we are God’s creation. We are blinded from the truth and it is done in a subtle way. We choose to ignore it at our peril and then it is too late. Wake up people and understand the times…………………….

Seek the Lord your God before it is too late. Make this coming year something really special for your life, come to Jesus Christ whilst you still have the time…………

My beliefs

In order to satisfy the curiosity of those who wish to question what I post about God, Jesus Christ and The Holy Spirit I am posting this article written by others which represents exactly my own beliefs. As any Christian will know, if indeed they are Christian, we are taught not to proselytise and attempt to persuade those of another faith to reconsider that faith. I have been receiving comments somewhat along these lines in response to some of my posts on the subject. I wish to make it absolutely clear that first of all I am not going to turn from that which I believe to be the truth and second I do not persuade others of different faiths and beliefs to do likewise. All I do is present the truth according to my beliefs (and many others who believe the same). Whether my readers agree with the information is entirely up to them. All I say is that the subject is not up for discussion because that only leads to disagreement and heated argument. Simply read it and accept it or not. That has always been your choice, the free will given by God.
Pentecostal beliefs
As with other followers of the Christian faith, beliefs and theology are important to Pentecostals. hold to the core doctrines of the Trinity, the deity of Jesus Christ, and the belief that the Bible is the Word of God. Also like other Christians, they believe the Holy Spirit is the divine, third person of the Trinity, coequal to the Father and Son, who the ascended Jesus sent on the day of Pentecost as recorded in Acts 2.But unlike some Christians, Pentecostals are united by the belief that after the Holy Spirit applies Christ’s salvation to the sinner, there is another experience available to the believer where the Holy Spirit fills them, which many believe is evidence by speaking in tongues. Most Pentecostals believe this experience should be the norm for all Christians, whatever their denomination.

“Tongues” in the English translation of the New Testament Greek word “charisma,” which is one of nine gifts of the Spirit described in 1 Corinthians 12:4-11 in the New Testament. Some believe “tongues,” is speaking known languages, but which are unfamiliar to the speaker; others believe “tongues” is speaking in languages unknown to anyone. Still others believe both are possibilities.

Summary of Pentecostal Theology

The 16 Fundamental Truths of the Assemblies of God

Assemblies of God is the largest Pentecostal denomination in the world and the fastest-growing denominations in the Christian faith. Because this is true, their beliefs offer a good representation of basic Pentecostal theology.

The 16 Fundamental Truths were articulated in 1916 at the 4th General Council is large part to combat unorthodox teachings entering their churches.

STATEMENT OF FUNDAMENTAL TRUTHS

The Bible is our all-sufficient rule for faith and practice. This Statement of Fundamental Truths is intended simply as a basis of fellowship among us (i.e., that we all speak the same thing, 1 Corinthians 1:10; Acts 2:42). The phraseology employed in this statement is not inspired or contended for, but the truth set forth is held to be essential to a full-gospel ministry. No claim is made that it contains all biblical truth, only that it covers our need as to these fundamental doctrines.

1. The Scriptures Inspired

The Scriptures, both the Old and New Testament, are verbally inspired of God and are the revelation of God to man, the infallible, authoritative rule of faith and conduct (2 Timothy 3:15-17; 1 Thessalonians 2:13; 2 Peter 1:21).

2. The One True God

The one true God has revealed himself as the eternally self-existent “I AM,” the Creator of heaven and earth and the Redeemer of mankind. He has further revealed himself as embodying the principles of relationship and association as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 43:10,11; Matthew 28:19; Luke 3:22).

The Adorable Godhead

(a) Terms Defined

The terms trinity and persons, as related to the godhead, while not found in the Scriptures, are words in harmony with Scripture, whereby we may convey to others our immediate understanding of the doctrine of Jesus Christ respecting the Being of God, as distinguished from “gods many and lords many.” We therefore may speak with propriety of the Lord our God, who is One Lord, as a Trinity or as one Being of three persons, and still be absolutely scriptural (examples, Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14; John 14:16,17).

(b) Distinction and Relationship in the Godhead

Christ taught a distinction of persons in the godhead which He expressed in specific terms of relationship, as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, but that this distinction and relationship, as to its mode is inscrutable and incomprehensible, because unexplained (Luke 1:35; 1 Corinthians 1:24; Matthew 11:25-27; 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14; 1 John 1:3,4).

(c) Unity of the One Being of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit

Accordingly, therefore, there is that in the Father which constitutes Him the Father and not the Son; there is that in the Son which constitutes Him the Son and not the Father; and there is that in the Holy Spirit which constitutes Him the Holy Spirit and not either the Father or the Son. Wherefore, the Father is the Begetter; the Son is the Begotten; and the Holy Spirit is the One proceeding from the Father and the Son. Therefore, because these three persons in the godhead are in a state of unity, there is but one Lord God Almighty and His name one (John 1:18; 15:26; 17:11,21; Zechariah 14:9).

(d) Identity and Cooperation in the Godhead

The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are never identical as to person; nor confused as to relation; nor divided in respect to the godhead; nor opposed as to cooperation. The Son is in the Father and the Father is in the Son as to relationship. The Son is with the Father and the Father is with the Son, as to fellowship. The Father is not from the Son, but the Son is from the Father, as to authority. The Holy Spirit is from the Father and the Son proceeding, as to nature, relationship, cooperation, and authority. Hence, no person in the godhead either exists or works separately or independently of the others (John 5:17-30,32,37; 8:17,18).

(e) The Title, Lord Jesus Christ

The appellation Lord Jesus Christ, is a proper name. It is never applied in the New Testament either to the Father or to the Holy Spirit. It therefore belongs exclusively to the Son of God (Romans 1:1-3,7; 2 John 3).

(f) The Lord Jesus Christ, God With Us

The Lord Jesus Christ, as to His divine and eternal nature, is the proper and only Begotten of the Father, but as to His human nature, He is the proper Son of Man. He is, therefore, acknowledged to be both God and man; who because He is God and man, is “Immanuel,” God with us (Matthew 1:23; 1 John 4:2,10,14; Revelation 1:13,17).

(g) The Title, Son of God

Since the name Immanuel embraces both God and man, in the one person, our Lord Jesus Christ, it follows that the title Son of God describes His proper deity, and the title Son of Man, His proper humanity. Therefore, the title Son of God belongs to the order of eternity, and the title Son of Man to the order of time (Matthew 1:21-23; 2 John 3; 1 John 3:8; Hebrews 7:3; 1:1-13).

(h) Transgression of the Doctrine of Christ

Wherefore, it is a transgression of the doctrine of Christ to say that Jesus Christ derived the title Son of God solely from the fact of the Incarnation, or because of His relation to the economy of redemption. Therefore, to deny that the Father is a real and eternal Father, and that the Son is a real and eternal Son, is a denial of the distinction and relationship in the Being of God; a denial of the Father and the Son; and a displacement of the truth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh (2 John 9; John 1:1,2,14,18,29,49; 1 John 2:22,23; 4:1-5; Hebrews 12:2).

(i) Exaltation of Jesus Christ as Lord

The Son of God, our Lord Jesus Christ, having by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high, angels and principalities and powers having been made subject unto Him. And having been made both Lord and Christ, He sent the Holy Spirit that we, in the name of Jesus, might bow our knees and confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father until the end, when the Son shall become subject to the Father that God may be all in all (Hebrews 1:3; 1 Peter 3:22; Acts 2:32-36; Romans 14:11; 1 Corinthians 15:24-28).

(j) Equal Honor to the Father and to the Son

Wherefore, since the Father has delivered all judgment unto the Son, it is not only the express duty of all in heaven and on earth to bow the knee, but it is an unspeakable joy in the Holy Spirit to ascribe unto the Son all the attributes of deity, and to give Him all the honor and the glory contained in all the names and titles of the godhead except those which express relationship (see paragraphs b, c, and d), and thus honor the Son even as we honor the Father (John 5:22,23; 1Peter 1:8; Revelation 5:6-14; Philippians 2:8,9; Revelation 7:9,10; 4:8-11).

3. The Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ

The Lord Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. The Scriptures declare: a. His virgin birth (Matthew 1:23; Luke 1:31,35). b. His sinless life (Hebrews 7:26; 1 Peter 2:22). c. His miracles (Acts 2:22; 10:38). d. His substitutionary work on the cross (1 Corinthians 15:3; 2 Corinthians 5:21). e. His bodily resurrection from the dead (Matthew 28:6; Luke 24:39; 1 Corinthians 15:4). f. His exaltation to the right hand of God (Acts 1:9,11; 2:33; Philippians 2:9-11; Hebrews 1:3).

4. The Fall of Man

Man was created good and upright; for God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.” However, man by voluntary transgression fell and thereby incurred not only physical death but also spiritual death, which is separation from God (Genesis 1:26,27; 2:17; 3:6; Romans 5:12-19).

5. The Salvation of Man

Man’s only hope of redemption is through the shed blood of Jesus Christ the Son of God.

a. Conditions to Salvation

Salvation is received through repentance toward God and faith toward the Lord Jesus Christ. By the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, being justified by grace through faith, man becomes an heir of God according to the hope of eternal life (Luke 24:47; John 3:3; Romans 10:13-15; Ephesians 2:8; Titus 2:11; 3:5-7).

b. The Evidences of Salvation

The inward evidence of salvation is the direct witness of the Spirit (Romans 8:16). The outward evidence to all men is a life of righteousness and true holiness (Ephesians 4:24; Titus 2:12).

6. The Ordinances of the Church

a. Baptism in Water

The ordinance of baptism by immersion is commanded in the Scriptures. All who repent and believe on Christ as Savior and Lord are to be baptized. Thus they declare to the world that they have died with Christ and that they also have been raised with Him to walk in newness of life (Matthew 28:19; Mark 16:16; Acts 10:47,48; Romans 6:4).

b. Holy Communion

The Lord’s Supper, consisting of the elements—bread and the fruit of the vine—is the symbol expressing our sharing the divine nature of our Lord Jesus Christ (2 Peter 1:4); a memorial of His suffering and death (1 Corinthians 11:26); and a prophecy of His second coming (1 Corinthians 11:26); and is enjoined on all believers “till He come!”

7. The Baptism in the Holy Spirit

All believers are entitled to and should ardently expect and earnestly seek the promise of the Father, the baptism in the Holy Spirit and fire, according to the command of our Lord Jesus Christ. This was the normal experience of all in the early Christian church. With it comes the enduement of power for life and service, the bestowment of the gifts and their uses in the work of the ministry (Luke 24:49; Acts 1:4,8; 1 Corinthians 12:1-31). This experience is distinct from and subsequent to the experience of the new birth (Acts 8:12-17; 10:44-46; 11:14-16; 15:7-9).

With the baptism in the Holy Spirit come such experiences as an overflowing fullness of the Spirit (John 7:37-39; Acts 4:8), a deepened reverence for God (Acts 2:43; Hebrews 12:28), an intensified consecration to God and dedication to His work (Acts 2:42), and a more active love for Christ, for His Word, and for the lost (Mark 16:20).

8. The Initial Physical Evidence of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit

The baptism of believers in the Holy Spirit is witnessed by the initial physical sign of speaking with other tongues as the Spirit of God gives them utterance (Acts 2:4). The speaking in tongues in this instance is the same in essence as the gift of tongues (1 Corinthians 12:4-10,28), but different in purpose and use.

9. Sanctification

Sanctification is an act of separation from that which is evil, and of dedication unto God (Romans 12:1,2; 1Thessalonians 5:23; Hebrews 13:12). Scriptures teach a life of “holiness without which no man shall see the Lord” (Hebrews 12:14). By the power of the Holy Spirit we are able to obey the command: “Be ye holy, for I am holy” (1 Peter 1:15,16). Sanctification is realized in the believer by recognizing his identification with Christ in His death and resurrection, and by faith reckoning daily upon the fact of that union, and by offering every faculty continually to the dominion of the Holy Spirit (Romans 6:1-11,13; 8:1,2,13; Galatians 2:20; Philippians 2:12,13; 1 Peter 1:5).

10. The Church and Its Mission

The Church is the body of Christ, the habitation of God through the Spirit, with divine appointments for the fulfillment of her Great Commission. Each believer, born of the Spirit, is an integral part of the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven (Ephesians 1:22,23; 2:22; Hebrews 12:23).

Since God’s purpose concerning man is to seek and to save that which is lost, to be worshiped by man, and to build a body of believers in the image of His Son, the priority reason-for-being of the Assemblies of God as part of the Church is:

a. To be an agency of God for evangelizing the world (Acts 1:8; Matthew28:19,20; Mark 16:15,16). b. To be a corporate body in which man may worship God (1 Corinthians 12:13). c. To be a channel of God’s purpose to build a body of saints being perfected in the image of His Son (Ephesians 4:11-16; 1 Corinthians 12:28; 14:12). The Assemblies of God exists expressly to give continuing emphasis to this reason-for-being in the New Testament apostolic pattern by teaching and encouraging believers to be baptized in the Holy Spirit. This experience: a. Enables them to evangelize in the power of the Spirit with accompanying supernatural signs (Mark 16:15-20; Acts 4:29-31; Hebrews 2:3,4). b. Adds a necessary dimension to a worshipful relationship with God (1Corinthians 2:10-16; 1 Corinthians 12-14). c. Enables them to respond to the full working of the Holy Spirit in expression of fruit and gifts and ministries as in New Testament times for the edifying of the body of Christ (Galatians 5:22-26; 1 Corinthians 14:12; Ephesians 4:11,12; 1 Corinthians 12:28; Colossians 1:29).

11. The Ministry

A divinely called and scripturally ordained ministry has been provided by our Lord for the threefold purpose of leading the Church in: (1) evangelization of the world (Mark 16:15-20), (2) worship of God (John 4:23,24), and (3) building a Body of saints being perfected in the image of His Son (Ephesians 4:11,16).

12. Divine Healing

Divine healing is an integral part of the gospel. Deliverance from sickness is provided for in the Atonement, and is the privilege of all believers (Isaiah 53:4,5; Matthew 8:16,17; James 5:14-16).

13. The Blessed Hope

The resurrection of those who have fallen asleep in Christ and their translation together with those who are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord is the imminent and blessed hope of the Church (1 Thessalonians 4:16,17; Romans 8:23; Titus 2:13; 1 Corinthians 15:51,52).

14. The Millennial Reign of Christ

The second coming of Christ includes the rapture of the saints, which is our blessed hope, followed by the visible return of Christ with His saints to reign on the earth for one thousand years (Zechariah 14:5; Matthew 24:27,30; Revelation 1:7;19:11-14; 20:1-6). This millennial reign will bring the salvation of national Israel (Ezekiel 37:21,22; Zephaniah 3:19,20; Romans 11:26,27) and the establishment of universal peace (Isaiah 11:6-9; Psalm 72:3-8; Micah 4:3,4).

15. The Final Judgment

There will be a final judgment in which the wicked dead will be raised and judged according to their works. Whosoever is not found written in the Book of Life, together with the devil and his angels, the beast and the false prophet, will be consigned to everlasting punishment in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone, which is the second death (Matthew 25:46; Mark 9:43-48; Revelation 19:20; 20:11-15; 21:8).

16. The New Heavens and the New Earth

“We, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness” (2 Peter 3:13; Revelation 21,22).

You need God

I do not care that you are an unbeliever or a follower of some other faith, some other religion, a Muslim, a Buddhist, a Hindu or anything else……YOU NEED GOD……..YOU NEED JESUS CHRIST.

Despite what you are being told there is only one God and only one saviour. His name is Jesus Christ. There is no other name under heaven by which we MUST be saved. Whilst I am saying this know also that there are NOT other ways which lead to God. There is but one way and that is through Jesus Christ.

We live in the physical realm but there is a spiritual realm too. Without the spiritual realm the physical realm would not exist for the physical realm was created by supernatural power. That power is supernatural which means it is above the laws of the physical and the laws in the physical realm have no affect upon it.

‘You are worthy, our Lord and God,
to receive glory and honour and power,
for you created all things,
and by your will they were created
and have their being.’ (Revelation 4:11)

Throughout Scripture we are shown that God created all things and all things (creation) have their meaning in Him. Without God you simply wouldn’t be here! Yet you turn your back upon him, you refuse to believe in miracles and the witness of others, you rely upon false gods and false teachings and in doing so you condemn yourselves. God gave you free will to think for yourselves because he doesn’t want you to follow him by force. What would be the point in that? He wants you to seek him because you WANT TO. The evidence is all around you, you have no excuse but know this, without Jesus Christ as your Saviour you are destined for hell. I pull no punches, you are destined for hell. No it isn’t me speaking, GOD SAYS SO. My brothers and sisters who follow some other god or religion turn NOW to your Creator God through Jesus Christ for your salvation. Your god won’t save you, your religion won’t save you, you worship at the temple of your god and he doesn’t answer. He never will because he isn’t GOD. Do not believe in anything I have written but seek the Lord yourself then know I speak the truth. I speak this truth because I know it is the truth and I want YOU to be blessed by it. Come to the truth which is in Jesus Christ. Stay as you are and stay condemned.

YOU NEED GOD, YOU NEED JESUS
