Revelation 13:16-18 (NIV)

16 It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads, 17 so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name.

18 This calls for wisdom. Let the person who has insight calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man. That number is 666.

The Beast Inside

I happened to have seen an advertisement on the television during a program I had been watching and it was in regard to a new model of mobile phone by manufacturer ‘Samsung‘. Like most adverts use of subtleties, suggestions and general assumptions were used to convey the idea that we, the public, wanted what was advertised. Throughout the advert a song was being played, the words of which suggested we did, ‘Give them what they want’……Well maybe I am the odd one out here but that suggestion is a subtle way of attempting us to believe that we want the latest product because everyone else wants one and I am not taking the bait. In fact I don’t like the kind of technology that one day threatens to run our lives. If you don’t believe that then just look around and see how many people are joined at the hip to their ‘smart’ phones. No-one takes any notice of their surroundings anymore, their eyes are glued to their little (or big) screens and their ears are being pumped whatever sounds they are tuned into. This is only the beginning, technology is only in its infancy despite what has been achieved so far. You can be sure more is to come. In relation to the Bible verses above one day technology will dispense with the need to carry cash, cards (even those with RFID chips) or smart phones to make purchases. The technology will be inside us! Those who allow it that is. However, as the verses state, nothing will be purchasable without it! We will be under the control of others………….Okay it might not happen during our own lifetime but there again the technology is already here and in some countries people really do have RFID chips implanted. Imagine what the world would be and will be like when everyone has implanted technology………

Read the Book of Revelation. It is the last book in The Bible for a reason……

The Lord’s devastation of the earth Isaiah 24:1-6

1 See, the Lord is going to lay waste the earth
and devastate it;
he will ruin its face
and scatter its inhabitants –
2 it will be the same
for priest as for people,
for the master as for his servant,
for the mistress as for her servant,
for seller as for buyer,
for borrower as for lender,
for debtor as for creditor.
3 The earth will be completely laid waste
and totally plundered.
The Lord has spoken this word.
4 The earth dries up and withers,
the world languishes and withers,
the heavens languish with the earth.
5 The earth is defiled by its people;
they have disobeyed the laws,
violated the statutes
and broken the everlasting covenant.
6 Therefore a curse consumes the earth;
its people must bear their guilt.
Therefore earth’s inhabitants are burned up,
and very few are left………..

How and when will God devastate the earth? (Isaiah 24:1–6)

To this point, Isaiah’s warnings have been about God’s judgment on specific nations. But here he broadens the word of doom to encompass the entire world: destruction will come to all who sin.
The picture he paints is of devastation so complete that it will rival the flood God sent in the time of Noah. Ruin its face (v. 1) suggests a disaster that will change the contours of the planet, much like the flood did. Natural disasters such as earthquakes, droughts and crashing meteorites have the potential to do that. This much is clear: God, not human beings, will lay waste to the planet in judgment for sin.
We don’t know when this destruction will happen. But Isaiah seems to say that after the earth is laid waste (v. 3), God will make a new creation (26:1). Perhaps this will be in the last days of human history, when God defeats evil once and for all. Because many scholars have interpreted the message this way, chapters 24–27 are known as the “Apocalypse of Isaiah.”

Taken from NIV Quest Study Bible

Isaiah was one of The Old Testament prophets living hundreds of years before the birth of Christ. He foretold of Christ’s birth which as we all know came about….viz….

Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: the virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.
(Immanuel means God with us)

Isaiah 9:6-7
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and for ever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.

Do you therefore suppose that the devastation of the world isn’t going to happen as the prophet says? We have an all-powerful and mighty Creator God. Believe.

Slowly but surely it nibbles away
At each precious second
In each precious day.
Turning around you don’t notice it’s gone
Your freedom, your choices
Your liberty won.
Deceived you are taken along with the flow
Then suddenly there is no place you can go,
Controlled you are led down the path of despair
There’s no turning back and nobody cares.
But wait, there is time to resist
There’s a path through the darkness
A path through the mist.
The choices you make as you open your eyes
Will determine salvation or end in demise.

P technology

P technology (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

I was working in someone’s house a couple of days ago and during some conversation we discussed technology and the advancement and use of it in our daily lives. The couple who lived there were professional people, that is educated to a high level and holding down professional jobs. One, the lady, was a university lecturer and the man was a qualified engineer who was now working in information technology and its developement. I had to let them know that my views on technology were not the same as their own. I don’t like technology. I don’t like the way it is slowly weaving its way into our lives until we become totally dependent upon it. Don’t misunderstand me, there is good technology and there is technology we could well do without. Technology in medicine must be a good thing if it aids in diagnosis, prevention of incapacity or death and in treatment. Industry often relies upon technology. In other areas of our lives such as transport, communication, entertainment or simply to allow us an easier life at home I am not so sure the benefits outweigh the losses. Too many folk these days are glued to liquid crystal or diode displays, that is television, computer and mobile devices such as telephones; smart phones they call them. Oh yes they are smart alright but slowly they will take over how we live our lives, if we let them, and I know that will be inevitable for many for they cannot see what the future has in store. Their minds are closed as are their hearts, they actually want to go with the flow but there is a price to pay and perhaps one day, if prophecy is true, it will be too late to turn back.

A rebel

Standard

I have never really been one who goes with the flow so to speak, never one who does things just because everyone else seems to be doing it. I hate change just for the sake of it or especially change that results in a backward step that doesn’t benefit anyone. I am a rebel at heart to the things I feel don’t justify my interest. I am a self-confessed cynic too I suppose and will voice my opinion in regard to something I feel is stupid or is pushing me into a corner unless I submit. Over the last few years in particular I have grown to hate what goes on in the world, mostly because of my Christian faith but partly also in the everyday things directly affecting my life. I can see where it is all heading and I don’t like it. However there is little I can do about it so I have to endure and try to influence wherever and whenever I can. The greatest influence on my attitude to life on this planet is The Bible, a collection of 66 books by 40 different authors all inspired by God yet although most of them had no contact with the others or had read anything they had written, the writings are all connected to the same theme. About one-third of the writings are prophetic and some of those prophecies talk about the present day and the days to come. What I am trying to point out is the fact that many of the things we are now in the process of undertaking have been foretold. I see it all around me and am helpless to do anything about it. The world is like a large machine gathering speed and relentlessly heading to its destiny whether we like it or not. Those who are wise will understand.

I went for a walk into town on Saturday morning as I had a large amount of cash lying around the house which needed depositing in the bank, actually a building society account. My local branches have closed over the last few years and the excuse was to streamline the business but what they really meant was they were cutting back on expenses and staff so that more profit could be made. Gradually banking like taxation has been pushed into our laps and we do all the work ourselves. That has its merits and its shortcomings. Suddenly we could get cash out of a machine and didn’t have to visit a branch of the bank which was a good idea but then there came machines which could take our deposits too. I trust neither of them but am forced to use them as there are fewer staff to do it. Eventually there will be no alternative but that is only the beginning, there are plans afoot to do away with cash altogether and have only cards. It won’t end there. The next step will be an electronic chip embedded under the skin which will do away with any need  with physical representation of our credit. We will then be slaves to the system. (Mark of the beast and all that). Enjoy the freedom whilst it lasts. So there I was at the bank with cash in hand refusing to use one of the machines and standing in wait for a teller to be free. I approached her desk and offered the cash for deposit only to be told that they don’t accept deposits now except through the machines! This time however she took the money but insisted I use the machine in future. I will have no alternative. Just a simple example of the way things are proving to be heading in the direction prophesied over a couple of thousand years by the prophets of The Bible.

God isn’t kidding. He warns us in advance of His plans. Where? You might say. It is all in Scripture, all in the written word, The Holy Bible, The Word of God. It is all in prophecy and if it is in prophecy it is surely going to happen. Some prophecies have already been fulfilled, some as yet have to be. If you cannot see what is in front of your own eyes then you are either blind or just plain stubborn or both! You have only to see the developments that have happened during these last few years to know where it is all heading. Allow your spirit an everlasting existence in Heaven. The alternative is hell. Come to The Lord Jesus Christ and be saved.

It is time for a reckoning and a decision. Change your life forever in 2016.

Christmas gifts.

Christmas gifts. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

In one calendar month almost everyone in the western world (and the eastern world too) will be celebrating Christmas. Naturally they will not be people of other faiths though even some of them might celebrate. It is intended as a Christian festival though having said that not all will be believers and followers of Christ and will be celebrating for different reasons best known to themselves. Their Christmas will not be a celebration of the birth of Jesus but it will be for a celebration centred around family, presents, partying and other things none of which honour Jesus. When Christ was born (and it certainly wasn’t on December 25th) three wise men, actually mystics from eastern lands had heard that a new king was to be born or had been born and as was the custom in those days when entering into the presence of a king they each brought a gift. The gifts themselves were not given on the day of his birth but some time later, maybe months later. People today might use the argument of giving presents to justify doing that because Jesus received gifts. They are not honouring Jesus by doing that but are simply satisfying themselves. ( http://rcg.org/books/ttooc.html ). Today of course everything is driven by commerce and there is an incessant pressure encouraging us all to buy into it. During the last few weeks and into the next four there will be a bombardment of advertising in the hope that people will buy things they don’t really need for themselves or for others. It seems rather stupid to me that people give gifts and then receive something from the recipient. It isn’t an act of kindness or love but one that is selfish and self-centred, especially when the whole point of Christmas was to celebrate the birth of Jesus as Saviour and praising God for it happening. How many will actually do that? It is a sign of the times I suppose and each year the truth behind Christmas is pushed further into the background until one day the association will be irrelevant. It is already meaningless in the eyes and hearts of many. It is all a sign of things to come, a sign of lawlessness and a turning away from God all prophesied in Scripture. Yes it is all there in black and white, a prophecy many hundreds of years ago and is being ignored because people would rather do their own thing than obey God. We don’t worship God with useless festivals and self-indulgency.

Daniel 12:10  Many will be purified, made spotless and refined, but the wicked will continue to be wicked. None of the wicked will understand, but those who are wise will understand.

Ecclesiastes 12: 13-14

Now all has been heard;
here is the conclusion of the matter:
fear God and keep his commandments,
for this is the duty of all mankind.
14 For God will bring every deed into judgment,
    including every hidden thing,
whether it is good or evil.

If you celebrate Christmas then do it for the right reasons and not for any sense of self-gratification. Remember there is no salvation through material things or self-righteousness, there is only one salvation and this is through Jesus Christ, the one Christmas is supposed to celebrate.

DVD selectionFor more than a week I was without work that is until Friday or should I say Thursday for that is when I received phone call requests? Anyway it meant that I had three places to visit and three jobs to do, the last one the biggest. The old guy who had moved in to the house in January had been trying to get someone to separate two lights both operating on the one switch. The strange thing was the lights were in adjacent rooms! Evidently the previous owner had a wall built to make two separate rooms. There had been a large archway in the original set up. However they hadn’t got as far as to put an extra switch in to allow independent control of the lights. Furthermore the now two rooms had their ceilings lowered or rather a false ceiling had been constructed beneath the original ceilings. My job was to disconnect one light from the existing circuit and then re-feed it from another source. It all sounds easy but doing it wasn’t! Anyhow by the time I’d gotten home I didn’t much feel like doing anything else so I didn’t. Nevertheless I got more calls in the evening but refused them all except for one which I promised I would look at on Saturday morning. The other requests were too large for me to tackle but this one was very simple, not really a job at all in the real sense. The lady on the phone explained her predicament in that her lights had fused whilst at the same time indicating that she knew what the problem was, a faulty lamp had caused the fuse to blow. She wanted to know how to replace the fuse. These particular fuses are of the cartridge type and are easy to replace once the fuse carrier could be removed. She was having difficulty in doing that so I explained to her what she had to do and how to replace the fuse as she had some in stock. As long as she didn’t use the faulty light all would be OK and I would pop in on my way to my supplier in the morning to check everything. I had planned to go to the supplier anyway. So I arrived at nine o’clock as promised and she welcomed me in. Everything was in order so I didn’t even need to get out my tools. Instead she offered me a drink of tea and we chatted for a half-hour. When she had opened the door to me I recognised her immediately but said nothing. She is a Christian lady who once went to the same church as myself but she didn’t recognise me, why would she? She had been a member there for seven years and I for ten though perhaps I wasn’t there for the whole period that she had been or vice-versa. In any case she didn’t remember me. I told her that I knew she was a Christian and that I was also and she asked how I knew and which church had I attended. I told her which church, the same one as herself but still the penny hadn’t dropped. I think she assumed our paths had not crossed during our time at the same church. I said I had seen her on several occasions at church venues and functions and she understood. Naturally we talked about the faith and she asked if I was attending a church at present. I am not and I told her so. We talked about prophecy and she showed me some things concerning the subject. It appears we are both interested in such things. I had to leave and she had to get ready for a friend who was calling. They were off to some church event in Liverpool for the day and I was invited along. I declined the offer for I had other plans. She presented me with a sealed DVD labelled ‘The Daniel Project’ for me to view and then pass on to someone else. The material concerns biblical prophecy and takes the form of an hour and a half’s length documentary, a separate half-hour interview and a short three and a half-minute summary of the presentation. It is produced by Studio Scotland Ltd. I had planned to do some gardening after lunch but decided to watch the two-hour presentation instead. I was glad I did for I found it fascinating and well worth the viewing. For myself it was more of an edifying experience but for those who do not believe in God, Jesus and The Bible it would prove to be a real eye-opener. There are many prophecies in Scripture, well over three hundred, and many have been fulfilled. Some have yet to be as I have mentioned in many of my previous posts. The presentation is not out to win souls and it leaves the viewer to ponder the facts for themselves. The real challenge to anyone is presented in the interview following where the facts are presented logically. If you get the chance to view the DVD or wish to purchase a copy I would strongly recommend it as being worthwhile. Incidentally the narrative is presented by a self-confessed atheist who himself had questions to ask in the interview. They were answered.

Here is the link to the site where you may purchase the DVD http://www.thedanielprojectmovie.com/index.htm

A film called The Daniel Connection based on the documentary has been produced and if I get the chance I will certainly go and see it.

I got to do some gardening later in the afternoon.

The prophets

Baruch Writing Jeremiah’s Prophecies (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

If someone were to tell you that a particular thing would happen to you at a future time you would probably be very skeptical. If however that prophecy came true you might think twice about what was foretold. On the other hand you may think it was just a coincidence. What if someone were to tell you of a future event that not only affected you but that it would affect everyone? Would you think them out of their mind or would you consider that it may be true? You wouldn’t be alone in your skepticism for many in the past have heard prophecies and didn’t believe they would happen. Pity the poor Prophets though who deliver the message in the first place. A prophet must surely be believed if indeed their prophecy becomes true, yes? Trouble with that is that many who have prophesied what in fact became true died long before the event happened and they were forgotten. This happened and is recorded in Scripture though some prophets remained alive to see their prophecies come about. Some people today disregard what is written the The Bible believing it is a collection of fairy tales yet if they read the prophecies and their manifestations they might think twice. The birth of Jesus Christ was foretold long before it happened. Look at these verses:

 Isaiah 9: 6-7

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and for ever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.
These verses are but one of the prophecies concerning the birth of Christ. There are others.
Concerning the future state of Israel and again the birth of Christ we read:

Jeremiah 23:5-8

5‘The days are coming,’ declares the Lord,
‘when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch,
a King who will reign wisely
and do what is just and right in the land.
In his days Judah will be saved
and Israel will live in safety.
This is the name by which he will be called:
    The Lord Our Righteous Saviour.

‘So then, the days are coming,’ declares the Lord, ‘when people will no longer say, “As surely as the Lord lives, who brought the Israelites up out of Egypt,” but they will say, “As surely as the Lord lives, who brought the descendants of Israel up out of the land of the north and out of all the countries where he had banished them.” Then they will live in their own land.’

What do you make of verse 8 highlighted in red? Is this a reference to the present land of Israel? If it is, and it certainly looks that way then what about other prophecies not yet fulfilled? Those mentioned in the Book of Daniel and Revelations which predict the future of mankind and the coming judgement? If former prophets got it right (they couldn’t fail actually as the messages were from God) then surely these as yet unfulfilled prophecies will come about too? Would you still not believe what God is saying to you? Repent and believe in the One who gave you your life. Turn to Jesus for your salvation for he is the only way to that salvation.

Pray this prayer or something similar if you have made the decision to come to Jesus.  ‘Dear heavenly Father I have rejected you all of my life but now I realise I was mistaken. I am sorry for the things I have done in my life which have kept us apart, my sins. I repent of them and turn to you for forgiveness and salvation. You gave your only begotten Son, the Lord Jesus Christ who became an atoning sacrifice for all those who believe in you and in him. I believe that Jesus took upon himself my sins so that I could go free. He took my punishment, that which I deserve, upon himself. Thank you Jesus for being my Saviour. Thank you Father for Jesus. I welcome The Holy Spirit into my heart right now to be my guide and my teacher. Help me now Lord to follow you all the days of my life.’

Now go and find a church which teaches The Bible’s truth and meet with other Christians to help you in your new life.

The beginning of the end?

Standard

I have included all of chapter 13 for the sake of clarity…..It is wise not to take Scripture out of context. The Book of Revelation is essentially prophetic, a vision of future times was given to John whilst he was on the island of Patmos (Rev 1:9). He was shown what will happen to all of mankind when God‘s wrath is levelled at all those who refuse to put their faith in Him. It will be a time of destruction and of woes of all different kinds. There will be signs pointing toward these events so that there will be no excuses when they come about. It is a warning, God always warns His people before taking action giving the opportunity to repent and be saved. He would rather everyone repent and be saved but being a just God He allows us to make the decisions ourselves.

I saw an item of news on television last night which caught my attention. It appears that office workers in some organisation in the UK have had electronic chips inserted beneath the skin on their right hand. This authorises them access to various areas and to make use of equipment by placing their hand close to it. It also allows them access to their cafeteria and I presume make payment for the food. When I first saw animals being ‘chipped’ I thought to myself it is only one small step to do the same for human beings. Now it seems that day has come and like anything let out of Pandora’s box, it cannot be put back again. Mark my words this system will be extended until everyone is obliged to be chipped. I can see our health records programmed onto a chip  and inserted beneath our skin which will make treatment much easier in the event of accidents or ill-health. I can see a time when goods will be paid for in this way, in fact the precursor to this has been the implementation of credit and debit cards followed by ‘smart apps’ on mobile phones. Once that happens we will be slaves to a system that will know everything about us and even where we are or where we’ve been. Do you really think all of this is harmless? Think again. It may not all happen in your lifetime but it will certainly come about in the lives of those who follow………..and it is all written in Scripture…..

Revelation 13 New International Version – UK

The beast out of the sea

1 The dragon stood on the shore of the sea. And I saw a beast coming out of the sea. It had ten horns and seven heads, with ten crowns on its horns, and on each head a blasphemous name. 2 The beast I saw resembled a leopard, but had feet like those of a bear and a mouth like that of a lion. The dragon gave the beast his power and his throne and great authority. 3 One of the heads of the beast seemed to have had a fatal wound, but the fatal wound had been healed. The whole world was filled with wonder and followed the beast. 4 People worshipped the dragon because he had given authority to the beast, and they also worshipped the beast and asked, ‘Who is like the beast? Who can wage war against it?’

5 The beast was given a mouth to utter proud words and blasphemies and to exercise its authority for forty-two months. 6 It opened its mouth to blaspheme God, and to slander his name and his dwelling-place and those who live in heaven. 7 It was given power to wage war against God’s holy people and to conquer them. And it was given authority over every tribe, people, language and nation. 8 All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast – all whose names have not been written in the Lamb’s book of life, the Lamb who was slain from the creation of the world

9 Whoever has ears, let them hear.

10 ‘If anyone is to go into captivity,
into captivity they will go.
If anyone is to be killed with the sword,
with the sword they will be killed.’
This calls for patient endurance and faithfulness on the part of God’s people.

The beast out of the earth

11 Then I saw a second beast, coming out of the earth. It had two horns like a lamb, but it spoke like a dragon. 12 It exercised all the authority of the first beast on its behalf, and made the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, whose fatal wound had been healed. 13 And it performed great signs, even causing fire to come down from heaven to the earth in full view of the people. 14 Because of the signs it was given power to perform on behalf of the first beast, it deceived the inhabitants of the earth. It ordered them to set up an image in honour of the beast who was wounded by the sword and yet lived. 15 The second beast was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that the image could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed.

Written by forty different authors spanning several centuries yet all contributions knit together like a jigsaw puzzle and have a thread within them which links them together. The Bible. Many have sought its destruction and have failed, many have tried to disprove its content and also have failed. The collection of books we know collectively as The Bible cover many subjects but overall it is a history book and a book of prophesy. It is a book about life and the purpose and future of mankind. It is a manual for living and the words it contains are alive. Many have no understanding of its purpose and meaning often preferring to dismiss it without prior study, often preferring to believe in something else yet not being able to justify it. One of the main characters and contributors in the New Testament, Paul, was vehemently against the followers of Christ to the point of seeking them out and persecuting them until one day as he made his way to Damascus to pursue his passion of hate he was confronted by God. That experience led him to repent and become a driving force in the early Church. My own experience followed a similar vein. The Bible has been called a fairy tale by those who oppose the faith, some even going out of their way to bring it to disrepute. Often this is because they do not want to have their way of life challenged in any way and that is probably because The Bible speaks out against the practices of some. Religion has been blamed as the cause of friction and the many wars that mankind has endured over the millennia but in fact it has been proven not to be true, in fact most wars have been caused by other things not related to religion. This argument is a non-starter for an excuse not to believe in God. There will be scoffers, there will be unbelievers, there will be those who reject the truth, there will be those who are immoral, who slander, who cheat and lie, who think there will be no punishment or judgement, even those things are prophesied in The Bible. I say to those people read the book and gain an understanding, ask God that He open your heart to the truth of the matter. If you are sincere and persistent, He WILL answer and that’s a fact.

An array of seven CCTV (closed-circuit television) cameras at an exit to Birmingham New Street station, the busiest station in the United Kingdom outside London. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

We live in an ever-increasing surveillance society, cameras are everywhere in towns and cities and it won’t be too long before they will be found in the countryside too. As a matter of fact some cameras already operate in the countryside not only to monitor the prevalence of ‘fly tipping‘ but to monitor traffic also. Tesco‘s, the supermarket chain we are all familiar with are proposing to install cameras to monitor their customers. Specifically these cameras will record information regarding a person’s facial appearance and their gender. They then propose to personalise their advertising to suit each individual. Evidently customers cannot opt out of the scheme! These are only a couple of things which are being done in the name of progress. Once upon a time people bartered for things they wanted then along came cash which gave them much more flexibility and it served mankind for thousands of years. In more recent times along came the cheque (check) book followed by debit and credit cards and now the mobile phone! However as good as these things may be there is something else on the horizon which will prove to be very contentious. This is the implanted silicon chip. These minute devices are already in use in animals both for identity and medical history and the next step will be using them in human beings. If my information is correct some people already have such devices implanted under the skin on their hand. Now these chips may at the moment be solely for medical use but developments already exist to make chips which will monitor location, identity, medical history and credit worthiness. With such a chip embedded under the skin there would no longer be the need for cash as one’s bank account could be debited/credited by simply passing one’s hand over a reader. It doesn’t stop there either because governments would be able to control populations by regulating what people can purchase or even if they can purchase anything. Once such a chip is embedded there would be no hiding place and little or no privacy. Now all of this may smack of 1984 but it isn’t a fairy-tale. Although in its infancy it is only a matter of time before it all comes into practice and it will be slowly and little by little. People can be persuaded so easily to accept the unusual but often they don’t realise they are being duped. If I were to tell you that all of this has already been forecast to happen you might believe me but if I told you it is all in The Bible you most probably wouldn’t, see how easy you are prepared to ignore that which has been foretold and will surely come to pass! You would call me crazy but am I? Time will tell and it will be too late then……

The Great Day of His Wrath

The Great Day of His Wrath (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

On the day of Pentecost the apostles were gathered in an upper room and there appeared something like flames descending on their heads. They had been filled with The Holy Spirit and they began to prophesy, speaking in foreign tongues. Those who heard them thought they were all drunk but they had all heard the messages in their own language by those who had never spoken in their language previously. The apostles, by the Spirit, had spoken these words……

‘“In the last days, God says,
I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your young men will see visions,
your old men will dream dreams.
18 Even on my servants, both men and women,
I will pour out my Spirit in those days,
and they will prophesy.
19 I will show wonders in the heavens above
and signs on the earth below,
blood and fire and billows of smoke.
20 The sun will be turned to darkness
and the moon to blood
before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord.
21 And everyone who calls
on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

Many today believe we are in those last days as we see the events in the world unfolding around us. Everything seems to be pointing to the beginning of the end and the return of Jesus Christ. For those who understand the prophecies in Scripture it is difficult not to believe we are approaching such times and if that is true are we ready for such things? Are you ready for Christ’s return?

Why do I not worry?

The Human Use of Human Beings

The Human Use of Human Beings

I have said this many times in the past but I don’t worry about anything these days, I put my hope and faith in God who takes away my cares. Ok I know some of you will disagree with that but nevertheless it is true for me, He really does take away my cares. Personal problems I may have do not compare to the problems that face so many in the world. If you click on the link to the right ‘Vine of life news’ or here instead, http://vineoflife.net  you will see the column to the far right of its home page items of news from around the world which will open your eyes to what is really going on, some items of news you never hear about from the media or main television news reports. The world is in a terrible state, people facing danger, starvation, military and religious oppression of all kinds and we should be concerned. I know I am concerned but I’m not worried about it all, these things we are told will happen before the end time. As sure as God has a plan they will, He knows things before they happen, it is all in prophecy. Mankind is heading for its own destruction unless there is an intervention, and there will be as sure as there is a tomorrow. I do not worry about these things for it is all in God’s hands. I am not surprised to read about many of the things we human beings get up to all in the name of religion, greed, power and such things. Man’s inhumanity toward his fellow being at times beggars belief and to what end? I remember how much my father was upset about such things and he would often say so whenever he learned of another way mankind had  behaved toward his fellow-man. People tell me that we as human beings are gradually improving in our relationships with each other and that the world is becoming a better place but from where I stand and what I can see going on all around me that suggestion is a difficult one to accept. We have had many generations come and go to get it right but I don’t think we are even close or ever likely to be but as I said, I am not worried, God takes that away from me for I place everything into His hands.

The more I see the more I am sure

Probably all my readers will be aware by now that I am a Christian but I do not fill this site with religious content, that is reserved for my other site at Minkyweasels Musings but from time to time I do post here on religious themes. I am fascinated with Bible prophecy, well I am fascinated with all of God‘s Word of course and I am always delving into Scripture. I know I have read the entire Bible from cover to cover at least 28 times and learn something new each time I read. I am currently reading through the Bible yet again. A large proportion of the Bible is dedicated to prophecy, probably one-third so it is a subject that should be taken very seriously, especially as much of what is prophesied has actually happened. As a Christian believer I know that all prophecy will be fulfilled, God’s will be done. The reason all prophecy hasn’t been fulfilled is that some of it is reserved for the future and what God has already planned will happen. Many of the prophets in the Old Testament foretold of future events which were fulfilled but some of those future events refer to things even in our own future. When John  was being held captive on the island of Patmos in the Mediterranean Sea he saw a vision from God and was inspired to write down all he saw. This resulted in the entire prophetic Book of Revelation,
Revelation 1
New International Version – UK (NIVUK)
Prologue

1 The revelation from Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, 2 who testifies to everything he saw – that is, the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ. 3 Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.

The time is near. This is making reference to the ‘end times’ as prophesied in the Book of Daniel and elsewhere in Scripture, a time in the future, their future. We are living two thousand years after John’s prophetic vision and much speculation has been given as to whether the ‘end times’ refer to the present day or a few years hence from now. Descriptions of those end times seem close to what is now going on in the world and indeed can only be referring to modern times when we analyse what is written.
Daniel 12 (NIVUK)

The end times

12 ‘At that time Michael, the great prince who protects your people, will arise. There will be a time of distress such as has not happened from the beginning of nations until then. But at that time your people – everyone whose name is found written in the book – will be delivered. 2 Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt. 3 Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever. 4 But you, Daniel, roll up and seal the words of the scroll until the time of the end. Many will go here and there to increase knowledge.’

‘Many will go here and there to increase knowledge’. Think about the Internet. The Book of Daniel was written almost 2600 years ago. In Matthew’s Gospel, written a little less than 2000 years ago a better description, the words spoken directly by Jesus is given…

Matthew 24

New International Version – UK (NIVUK)

The destruction of the temple and signs of the end times

24 Jesus left the temple and was walking away when his disciples came up to him to call his attention to its buildings. ‘Do you see all these things?’ he asked. ‘Truly I tell you, not one stone here will be left on another; every one will be thrown down.’

As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately. ‘Tell us,’ they said, ‘when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?’

Jesus answered: ‘Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name, claiming, “I am the Messiah,” and will deceive many. You will hear of wars and rumours of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth-pains.

‘Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. 10 At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, 11 and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. 12 Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, 13 but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

15 ‘So when you see standing in the holy place “the abomination that causes desolation,” spoken of through the prophet Daniel – let the reader understand – 16 then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 17 Let no one on the housetop go down to take anything out of the house. 18 Let no one in the field go back to get their cloak. 19 How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! 20 Pray that your flight will not take place in winter or on the Sabbath.21 For then there will be great distress, unequalled from the beginning of the world until now – and never to be equalled again.

22 ‘If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened.23 At that time if anyone says to you, “Look, here is the Messiah!” or, “There he is!” do not believe it. 24 For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. 25 See, I have told you in advance.

26 ‘So if anyone tells you, “There he is, out in the desert,” do not go out; or, “Here he is, in the inner rooms,” do not believe it. 27 For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.28 Wherever there is a carcass, there the vultures will gather.

29 ‘Immediately after the distress of those days

‘“the sun will be darkened,
    and the moon will not give its light;
the stars will fall from the sky,
and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.”

30 ‘Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory. 31 And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.

32 ‘Now learn this lesson from the fig-tree: as soon as its twigs become tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. 33 Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it is near, right at the door. 34 Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. 35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.

The day and hour unknown

36 ‘But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son,[f] but only the Father. 37 As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 38 For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; 39 and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 40 Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. 41 Two women will be grinding with a hand-mill; one will be taken and the other left.

42 ‘Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. 43 But understand this: if the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. 44 So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.

45 ‘Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge of the servants in his household to give them their food at the proper time? 46 It will be good for that servant whose master finds him doing so when he returns.47 Truly I tell you, he will put him in charge of all his possessions. 48 But suppose that servant is wicked and says to himself, “My master is staying away a long time,” 49 and he then begins to beat his fellow servants and to eat and drink with drunkards. 50 The master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he is not aware of.51 He will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

I have highlighted some of the passage just to point out some key things but all of what is written and spoken by Jesus will come about. There will be no excuse for not taking heed  to the words of prophecy for they are a warning to unbelievers to repent and turn to God. Imagine being in a building that is on fire and refusing to use the emergency exit because you think there is a better route. Well there isn’t, there is only one way out and that is through Jesus who is holding open the door for you waiting for you to walk through it! Below is a short video worth watching. Several videos automatically follow this one, should you wish to watch them leave it running. May God open your eyes and your heart to His truth.
